He had been struggling. Then slept. As he slept, I wrote out the following prayer of affirmation. After he awoke, I asked if he wanted to hear the prayer. He said, “Yes.” The following is what I read to him.
My Prayer:
“He is elevated by divine Light, which lifts him high above all trouble.
Divine Love holds him steady even though (or while) the human body fluctuates. No matter how much this occurs, or to what degree, still, divine Love keeps him balanced, steady, joyful – for this is his eternal substance.
God makes Dad’s path open and blessed. Every moment is made perfect by His Law, which governs Dad’s entire life and wellbeing.
Dad’s soul is planted firmly on the divine Rock. When the storm comes up, the Rock holds him high and maintains dad’s peace so that no trouble, fear, or worry can touch him.
Dad is never alone. All the angels are here, providing comfort, calm, & life eternal. They guard, guide, protect, and keep dad in God’s perfect way. All things that concern dad are made perfect by God.
“He (God) performs the thing appointed for me.”
So if the need is for peace, steadiness, joy, calm, or assurance – it’s all being performed by God through Dad. All is well. All continues to be well.
God’s goodness fills dad with blessings. These shower dad, right in the very place most troubled. Right there, are showers of divine blessings now and forever more.
God sets dad on High, at His right hand, to see all the good occurring to him – even when it seems otherwise. There is good everywhere that Dad looks. God shows this good to Dad.
The good keeps coming, providing support, light, care, and assurance, even in the face of what appears to be great fear or threat to his life.
All divine good is parading in front of dad’s vision as dad is being guided to see it all! His eyes are open! He sees it! This is the Truth which now guides and governs dad’s entire experience. It won’t let go of him.
It holds dad steady, takes him by the hand, reveals all wondrous divine things to dad. The angels accompany this glorious experience. Dad is accompanied by the heavenly host of All God’s goodness. And God is making sure that this goodness is determining dad’s TOTAL Life Experience. God alone is in control. All is well and continues to be so.”
After reading it aloud to him, he said, “Beautiful!” and “I sure hope that’s true!”
An outcome of the prayer occurred 3 days later, during his dying moments, where, without realizing it, I reverted back to the storm metaphor – and going through the storm – which was addressed in the prayer. This theme returned the last hour and was powerful to address his closing needs and help him get through to the other side.
There were times during his last days where he was transitioning in and out of this realm, where, when he was lucid, and said things like, “Wonderful!” And “Delightful!” He was even spontaneous with humor, coming out of a deep sleep, feeling really good and peaceful. The power of a prayer, guided by God, does wonders! We did lots of prayers!
