What’s the most powerful way you can begin your day? As a spiritual healer, here’s how I do it.
Lying in bed, just as I begin to realize I’m awake, I’m usually bombarded with busy thoughts and emotions incoming from the previous day(s) or night, as well as ongoing concerns, or lingering dreams.
It’s amazing how busy the mind can become in just a few seconds. My number one goal is to focus on God, even while there’s a mental traffic jam occurring in my mind.
It’s a little tricky. The mind wants to run the course of its thoughts which it’s already begun. It can be as adamant as it is negative. I interrupt to set a divine course.
Having made the decision to take charge of my consciousness, I turn my focus to God (Spirit, the Divine, or what ever favorite name you most love for the most magnificent Source and Power you know).
There may be no particular thought except that my desire is set on tuning in and connecting to that which I absolutely love and adore to contemplate and be with. Gently holding the focus, I allow my heart and mind to open to the divine Wonder. Doing this, I become aware of improved feelings of well being. I remain tuned in and listen for a message – or anything.
Sometimes I may think, “I love you so much.” Or, “Thank you so much for being with me and for the knowledge that You exist.” I feel what it feels like to be un-alone and how much that means to me. I remind myself of the wonderfully loving Presence that is with me and fills me – and others – with blessings.
Holding this Presence, I may interact by asking divine Love a question such as, “What would you have me know right now?” And I lay there quietly in stillness, holding the space open for an answer.
The answer may come in a thousand different, subtle ways. It usually comes as my own awakened knowing. It could be specific or general. It could be a feeling of well being or an awareness such as guidance for my day. I may be given an insight or inspiration or hope. It doesn’t matter to me what happens as long as I feel the connection.
During the connection, I may allow some of the prominent concerns to enter. As these negatives enter, I allow them to be in the Presence and receive the Light for help. Allowing problems to be saturated by a Holy Presence brings upliftment and healing. I begin to feel the strength that comes from turning over worries and surrendering them to a divine Presence.
It’s getting time to get up and start my day. The most important thing has already occurred. I’ve made my connection and awakened to God. Now my goal is to stay connected.
In my last moments, I remind myself that God is with me all day. I may visualize myself during part of the day, remembering the connection and tuning in for guidance. I also think of my loved ones (though this usually occurs early on, spontaneously), and place this Light all around them, knowing it keeps them safe, loved, happy, wise, capable, progressing, and strong within themselves and out in the world (and a million other things).
As I rise to shower and during the shower and dressing, I return to my connection with the divine and try to stay close and tuned in. That sets the pattern for continuing to remember my connection throughout the day.
From this strong beginning, I try to live my best day with blessings for myself and others, feeling I’m living my most meaningful life, connected.
